We stayed here for one night prior to joining a river cruise. It was just perfect. We had a room on the first floor overlooking the pool and garden. Yes, the rooms are compact but for a short stay they are absolutely fine.
The service was first class and the hotel was spotless. The evening cocktails were a very nice way to meet other guests.
We ate in the Spice Garden restaurant for dinner and it was a delicious meal. Highly recommended for a short stay. Room Tip: Accept that the rooms are small. We chose a twin which was very comfortable.

“Small but perfectly formed!”
We really loved this hotel. A lot was packed into a small space, but you didn’t feel claustrophobic. The pool was small but quite usable, and the room overlooked the pool and garden. The whole place was beautifully polished teak. The staff were so helpful, and the restaurant was excellent. I did use the tiny spa and had a massage done by a local girl and it was very professional and relaxing. A really good stay in Mandalay.

“Oasis in a dusty city”
Enjoyed my stay here immensely. We had a ‘Shan’ room, which is one of the better ones. After visiting busy, dusty, dirty Mandalay, this hotel was an oasis of cool each afternoon. Great staff, nice PC lounge for when wifi doesn’t work (most of the time), nice common areas including pool. We ate at their restaurant (Indian) which was fine. We had to book rooms at a different hotel for part of our stay, but were able to return for one night at the end of our visit, and it was definitely nice coming back, having seen what other hotels are like. High season prices are ridiculously high, but to be fair, we were offered a negotiated discount when we turned down the rack rate. The only reason we didn’t take it was that we had pre-paid elsewhere already. would recommend to friends. The nightly cocktails by the pool is also a good chance to mingle with other visitors, and we met some lovely folks that way.
